Nowadays, the application of dimming glass for doors and windows is nothing new, but it may be a little unfamiliar to many people. Dimming glass is a customized product and needs to be customized according to customer needs. So what factors should be considered when you want to customize a suitable PDLC smart film for doors and windows?
First of all, we need to know that the dimming glass is a new type of special photoelectric glass product with a laminated structure that solidifies the liquid crystal film between two pieces of glass and is glued through a special process. Its structure is "glass-film- PDLC film-film-glass".
Next we need to understand the following aspects:
The size includes two parts: glass and dimming film, of which the decisive role is the PDLC film in glass. At present, the maximum width that the PDLC film can achieve is 1.8 meters, and in order to facilitate transportation, the length is generally limited to 3 meters. If the glass is too large or too long, it is not convenient to transport, so according to the actual technical level and needs, the size of the glass is mostly within 3 meters. At present, the maximum size of a single piece of dimming glass is 1800mm*3500mm, so custom-made dimming glass cannot exceed this size.
The common original glass thicknesses are 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, etc. In view of the fact that the production of dimming glass requires the process of tempering and laminating the original glass, and for production cost considerations, the dimming glass generally adopts glass of 5mm or more. If you use 5mm glass laminated glue to make dimming glass, then its thickness is about 5+5+2=12mm, using 6mm glass thickness is 6+6+2=14mm, and so on.
3. Transmittance and color
The light transmittance of ordinary white glass is generally about 82%, and the ultra-white glass can reach about 92%. Relatively speaking, the thicker the glass, the lower the light transmittance. The color of glass also affects the light transmittance to a certain extent, but the light transmittance is definitely not as good as white glass, which is why many people choose white glass. The dimming glass is divided into two types: ordinary white and super white, while the colored glass can be selected in several colors such as tea, yellow, green, pink, and purple.
Glass is fragile, so it cannot be made into various shapes as you want. Due to the technological limitations of dimming glass, generally it can only be made into regular shapes, such as square, fan-shaped, round, etc., or can be used with a certain arc Bent glass. Therefore, to make non-square dimming glass, you must consult the manufacturer if it can do it before buying.
Five, functional requirements
For those with higher requirements for sound insulation, it can be made into hollow PDLC smart film; for those with higher requirements for radiation protection and heat preservation, it can be made into low-e glass; for those with fire-proof requirements, fire-resistant glass can be used.
Six, special requirements
The perforation of the glass needs to be completed before tempering. There is a certain degree of difficulty and some skills are required. Therefore, products such as dimming glass are generally only available to manufacturers. Once they are finished, they cannot be perforated.
